The school chairperson
Keiko Harada, the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees

Keiko obtained MA degrees from Osaka University (English Literature), the University of Kent (English Literature) and SOAS / University of London (Comparative Literature). She has a qualification from the ‘Society for Teaching Japanese as a Foreign Language' administered by the Japan Educational Exchange and Services. She has lived in Oxford since 1996 and has been teaching Japanese language and literature at various institutions, including Oxford University. She started Oxford Japanese School in 1999, and for twenty years, she was in charge of teaching as well as running the school. In July 2019, however, Keiko stepped down from the position of head of the school and from teaching, and became the chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the school. She will continue to devote herself for the further development of the school as an educational advisor as well as the leader of the Trustee board and the Management Committee.
