School ethos

Oxford Japanese School promotes the learning of Japanese language and culture to children and young people regardless of their cultural heritage, nationality, race and gender. We believe that learning about different cultures enables children to grow up to be culturally more tolerant, sensitive and accepting.

Our school aims

  • To teach children the value of hard work and how to apply this to their study of Japanese language and culture.
  • To provide an environment where anyone with an interest in Japan, regardless of cultural heritage, nationality, race and gender, can learn about its language and culture.
  • To teach students the importance of striving to achieve their goals by working together and treating each other with respect.
  • To create a school community which enables students to thrive, and where teachers and families can collaborate to support student learning.
